NYC based Mark Goetz has a rich history in furniture and product design. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Mark has designed hundreds of products ranging from sunglasses (Smart Design) to award-winning seating, (his Esperanto chair was the recipient of the “Best of NeoCon Gold Award”). In the late 90’s, Mark was commissioned by Herman Miller for the Home to create the first new residential sofa for the company since Charles and Ray Eames. The Goetz Sofa was introduced in 1999 and is currently available through Design Within Reach. Mark’s client list includes such notables as Brickel, Bernhardt, Crate & Barrel, Marimekko, and Herman Miller. He currently resides in NYC where his design firm, TZ Design, is based. He also teaches Graduate Furniture Studio at Pratt Institute. In early 2006 Mark approached blankblank to develop a collection of products that enabled Mark to express his creativity without marketing boundaries. After a year of collaborative development the Divide Bench was introduced. |
